Barwell

Altrincham Club Crest image

A young club was formed when Barwell Athletic and Hinckley FC merged in 1992 and competed in The Midland Combination for two seasons before joining The Midland Alliance, the senior regional competition.

The Canaries settled down at their new level and under managers Bill Moore and Paul Purser completed six consecutive years in the top ten of The Alliance. Three seasons followed with the club under pressure, but in 2009 Barwell enjoyed a great campaign, finishing in second place and with the confidence and encouragement of the excellent season, manager Marcus Law led the club to the championship and promotion into The Northern Premier League.

With confidence still high, a second consecutive championship was achieved in The Northern Premier League Division One but a place in the Southern Premier was considered more suitable and Barwell proudly took their place in the Southern League Premier Division .
