The loyal supporters looking after Bedford Town, a once famous senior non-league club, have seen a brave recovery after re-starting in The South Midlands Division One in 1991.

Within three seasons and two championships, the club were accepted by The Isthmian League and within ten seasons ‘The Eagles’ achieved three more promotions and found themselves in the Premier Division.

The league restructuring in 2004 brought Bedford Town back to The Premier Division of the Southern League and within two seasons the club reached its highest level for a season in The Conference South.

A quick return took the club back to the Division in which the original Bedford Town enjoyed their greatest days. As a young player with the club while in the RAF locally, I remember the lovely old Eyrie Ground, the big crowds and the club’s FA Cup draw away to Arsenal. I was honoured to be involved with the club for a short time and am thrilled by their comeback.
