Chasetown

Altrincham Club Crest image

Another relatively young club which was formed by a group of friends from the same school in 1954, Chasetown have been remarkably successful in an area north of Birmingham which is swamped with senior football clubs.

Starting in The Cannock Youth League (1954-1958), the club moved into senior football as their young members grew older and the club passed through The Lichfield & District League (1958-1961) and the Staffordshire County League (1961-1972) before really developing as a senior club in the West Midlands (regional) League from 1972 to 1994.

Joining The Midland Alliance as founder members in 1995,‘The Scholars’ gradually got stronger in their twelve years before winning the championship and promotion into The Southern League in 2006.

Because of their geographical position, Chasetown are equally at home in the Southern Midland Division or The Northern Premier South, but the club did enjoy two seasons in the NPL Premier Division during Charlie Blakemore’s memorable years as manager.
