Eastbourne Borough

Altrincham Club Crest image

Playing under the name of Langney Sports F.C. the little Sussex club formed in 1966 played in the shadow of Eastbourne United and Eastbourne Town for many years, but having worked their way through the Eastbourne & District League the little club soon became a power in the Sussex County League.

Promotion and the championship of the Third Division was achieved in their fourth season in the County League and was followed by another championship success in Division Two.
In the next twelve years, Langney Sports only finished three times outside outside the top six and in 1999-2000 the club were welcomed into the Southern League as Sussex Champions.

The club celebrated a name change to Eastbourne Borough in season 2001-2002 by winning the County Senior Cup and in their third season, after the league re-structuring, ‘Borough’ found themselves in the Conference South.

Once again the challenge was accepted and within their ever improving facilities, Eastbourne Borough proved themselves to be the senior local club with a place in The Blue Square Premier, won through the play-offs having finished the 2007-2008 season as runners-up. Since then the club have experienced some difficult seasons but are working hard to consolidate in the Blue Square South.
