Grimsby Town

Altrincham Club Crest image

Having only completed two seasons as a Non-League club, Grimsby Town took time to settle with a disappointing eleventh place finish in 2010-2011 with a Fourth Qualifying round exit in the FA Cup and just two games in the FA Trophy.

The Mariners have kept a loyal hard core of over 3,000 supporters and in 2011-2012 they certainly had some excitement. An FA Cup run to the 2nd Round Proper included a victory over Port Vale, but a replay defeat at Salisbury City denied them a trip to Sheffield United in the Third Round. Reaching an FA Trophy quarter final brought four ties and with only two goals conceded, supporters had great hopes of a Wembley Final, but a single goal defeat to the eventual winners York City and another final league position of eleventh provided a solid season.
