Guildford City

A new Guildford football club was launched in 1996, twenty two years after the senior non-league club Guildford City had closed down. AFC Guildford’s first competitive football was played in the Surrey County League and after the re-organization of leagues in 2004, the club joined The Combined Counties League at Division One level.

Promotion in their first season brought a tough four seasons in the Premier Division and two changes of name - a brief spell as ‘United’ before returning to their famous ‘Guildford City’ title.

The introduction of Kevin Raynor as manager brought improved league results and after winning championships twice in 2011 and 2012, ‘The City’ were ready to return to The Southern League and work hard to match past glories.
