Guiseley F.C are another club to have worked its way through the local regional leagues since its formation and they should certainly be proud of the steady progress made since 1909.

Club development took place within The Wharfdale, Leeds, West Riding Counties and West Yorkshire Leagues before the Yorkshire League provided their ‘home’ from 1968-1982. As a regular challenger at the top of the League, ‘The Lions’ were accepted in the Northern Counties East in 1982. Then in their ninth season a wonderful double was achieved by a squad under the guidance of manager Gordon Raynor, when promotion was gained as runners-up in the League and The FA Vase was won after a replay.

The club has never looked back since joining the Northern Premier League. Two spells have been spent in Division One but since returning to The Premier Division in 2004, Guiseley have steadily improved their league positions. In 2010 they won Promotion as champions and have already shown they are a serious challenger for promotion and honours in The Blue Square North.

Play-Offs are obviously not popular in Guiseley, as three consecutive top five finishes haven’t led to that magical move up to The Conference Premier, but their consistency must surely be rewarded eventually.
