Northern Counties East Division One

A club very proud of the fact that their formation in 1860 makes them the second oldest football club in the world, just three years behind Sheffield F.C.

After many years of local football, Hallam, who were competing in The Yorkshire League when it was disbanded, became founder members of The North Eastern Counties Football League, which was launched in 1982 with five divisions.

‘The Countrymen’ were placed in Division One South, initially below The Premier Division and alongside Division One North. After four more seasons, finding their correct level, Hallam played their first season in The Premier division, but couldn’t settle and were relegated in 1990.

One of the most successful periods in the club’s history saw manager Glyn Kenny guide the club to three excellent seasons challenging for honours, which were climaxed by second place and promotion in 1994.

Hallam enjoyed seventeen years in the Premier Division but sadly never really challenged for promotion, then in 2011 the club dropped down again to Division One were they are rebuilding for another challenge.
