Hayes and Yeading United

Altrincham Club Crest image

The club was formed in 2007 when Hayes FC (founded 1909) and Yeading (1960) decided they would both benefit from pooling resources. Hayes had developed through The Athenian League into a steady mid table Isthmian club, while Yeading had stormed through the local leagues in the eighties, had qualified for Isthmian membership in 1987 and had won the FA Vase in 1990.

Hayes FC were founder members of Conference South and Yeading FC soon joined the competition before the two clubs agreed to merge in 2007-2008 and play their home matches at Church Road. One season later Hayes & Yeading won 10 consecutive League games to qualifying for the play-offs and after trailing 0-4 after 50 minutes of the Semi-Final Play-off first leg, the new club quite incredibly fought back, lost 2-4 and then won the second leg 4-0, before gaining promotion with a 3-2 victory in the Final.

A place at the top level had been secured and for three seasons the club battled in an attempt to establish themselves in The Blue Square Premier, but sadly the 2011-2012 season saw them slip into the relegation zone and some rebuilding will be required.
