Leighton

Currently Playing In:

Southern League Division One Cemnntral

The town of Leighton has been represented by a football club since 1885 and after kicking off in the Leighton & District Football League most of their early years were spent in and out of The South Midlands and The Spartan competitions.

Until 1963 the club was known as Leighton United, but as Leighton Town the club developed in senior non-league football and after working their way to the top of The South Midlands League in 1992, promotion into The Isthmian League was won under the managerial guidance of Bill Harrison.

Twelve seasons of Isthmian Football was climaxed by winning the Division Two championship in 2004. Paul Burgess was the manager in this successful period and promotion across to The Southern League Division One East gave the ‘Town’s
supporters fresh grounds to visit and the club has already enjoyed nine years at this level in Divisions One West, Midlands and Central!
