Maine Road FC

Currently Playing In:

North West Counties Premier Division

A comparatively young club was formed in 1955 as ‘City Supporters Rusholme’  playing ‘friendlies’, but joined the Manchester Amateur Sunday League and changed its name to Maine Road Football Club.

Ronnie Meredith was the driving force behind the club which turned to Saturday football in the Manchester League in the Seventies.  Then, after one or two changes of ground, the
club settled in Brentingham Road and won four consecutive Manchester League titles between 1982 and 1986.

‘The Blues’ qualified for promotion into The North West Counties League in 1987 and after three seasons moved up from Division Two into Division One, where they held their place for twelve seasons before dropping down for two years.

Managers at the club have all been given time to build their squads and over the years Maine Road FC have won all five of the Manchester County Cup competitions. Chris Simms and Ian Walker have given particularly great service to the club, who only missed promotion by one point in 2012-2013 and and will be determined to go one better very soon.
