Redditch United

Currently Playing In:

Southern League Premier Division

A West Midland club that was formed in 1891 and after three spells in the Birmingham Combination and two with The West Midlands (Regional) League, settled down in The Southern League in 1972.

Having finished in 8th place in 1979, Redditch United left The Southern Premier to be a founder member of The Football Alliance. Unfortunately the club was generally under prepared on and off the field and they suffered two more desperate seasons, after which ‘The Reds’ found themselves in Division One Midlands.

In the next twenty two campaigns, Redditch only spent three in the Premier Division, but their timing was good and in the re-organization of leagues in 2004, they finished top of The Southern League’s Western Division and qualified for The Conference North. A first season in ninth place proved to be their only top ten finish, before they sunk to the relegation zone and dropped back to The Southern League for re-building.
