Runcorn Linnets

Currently Playing In:

North West Counties Premier Division

After promotion into The Football Alliance in the exciting new league’s third season, Runcorn Football Club quickly established themselves as one of the very best non-league clubs in the country for the next ten years.

Excellent managers were appointed to look after ‘The Linnets’ and the club regularly challenged for County and League silverware and enjoyed exciting FA Cup and FATrophy campaigns.

The tragedy is, like so many clubs in the country, financial mistakes and miscalculations brought a really special club to its knees, and after competing in the Northern Premier League as Runcorn FC Halton for three years, the club just qualified for the newly formed The Conference South in 2004. However, the pressure of survival at the higher level proved too much and it was the turn of the hard core of supporters who launched ‘The Runcorn Linnets’

Their loyal followers, with wonderful memories of two Wembley appearances and many celebrations with silverware, have seen their new “Linnets’ consolidate in The North West Counties for seven seasons. With new ambitions but still inspired by the memories of the great years and wonderful players, their very special club is bravely building a new life.
