Salford City

Currently Playing In:

Northern Premier League Division One North

Thereā€˜s not much doubt that Salford City are enjoying the best seasons in their history.
The club was formed as Salford Central in the war years in 1940 and started competitive football in The Manchester League from 1963 (as Salford Amateurs). A merger with Anson
Villa produced Salford Football Club which remained until Salford City emerged in 1990.

Two years had seen the club competing in The Cheshire County League (1980-1982) before the new North West Counties League took over. Sadly, in the first sixteen years in the new competition, the club only twice finished in the top ten, but somehow avoided Division One for all but one season.

Manager Gary Fellows took the club to three consecutive top five finishes between 2005 and 2008 when promotion was achieved as runners up. The Northern Premier League football is the best standard the club has experienced but a different manager every year so far has failed to improve on eleventh position.
