FAVase Fifth Round
Six of the eight FA Vase ties defied the weather and AFC St Austell, a Step Six club enjoying home advantage, attracted 877 and beat Stanway Rovers 2-0 with a goal in each half. They are currently fourth with games in hand in The South West Peninsular League.
FATrophy Quarter Finals
With the winners of the two games delayed by the weather in Round Three due to play each other in the quarter finals, three ties were played on the Saturday, producing two results and another replay.
FATROPHY THIRD ROUND
With just one game postponed through wintery weather the Third Round headlines were dominated by the AFC and FC clubs.
THREE CLUBS LOOKING STRONG FOR PROMOTION ALREADY
Many Conference clubs were concentrating on FA Trophy ties last week-end but the Step Three Premier Divisions saw their leaders strengthen their positions. Maidstone United now have four games in hand over Margate, who are just three points ahead. Poole Town have five games in hand over Corby Town and Skelmersdale United still lead Curzon Ashton by five points although they have played three games more.
FATRophy First Round Draw
The First Round draw is made on a North and South basis and some reasonably local derbies can create exciting challenges.
FATROPHY Third Qualifying Round
Three of the ten drawn FA Trophy ties at the week end featured clubs from Step 4 as Bedford Town drew at home with Weston-super-Mare, AFC Sudbury achieved an excellent draw at St Neots Town and the thrilling 3-3 tie between Merthyr Town and Didcot Town meant another Step 4 club would also survive.
FA Vase Third Round - December 6th
Clubs playing in the FA Vase can change their ambitions and standards from season to season. So until a few rounds of the national competition, usually drawn on a regional basis, have been played, clubs with new ambitions and stronger squads may not have shown their potential.
THE SEASON SO FAR - Conference
With Barnet pulling away from the chasing pack, it will take a complete loss of form for Martin Allen’s squad to drop out of the promotion race.
THE ‘GIANT KILLERS’ ARE BACK!
A record eighteen of the twenty four Conference Premier clubs qualified for the First Round Proper of the FA Cup this season and as they were joined by The Conference North with seven and two from The Conference South, there were only five other non-league places available.
