FA CUP - Third Qualifying Round

16 October 2014

Willand Rovers and Greenwich Borough won at the first attempt by beating Aveley and Redhill respectively in the Third Qualifying Round and Shildon produced a wonderful 2-0 away victory at Stourbridge in their replay.

Willand Rovers from the Western League were given a home tie against Gosport Borough and Greenwich Borough from The Southern Counties League were paired with Worcester City away.

An outstanding result was achieved by Burgess Hill Town who won 3-1 away at Sutton United and large away victories were also achieved by Chorley 4-1 at Bamber Bridge, Hemel Hempstead Town 5-0 at Chippenham, Weston-super Mare 4-1 at Flackwell Heath and Norton United 5-2 at Runcorn.

Attendances were also impressive with 2,214 at Bamber Bridge and 2,562 to see Stockport County beat Ilkeston. In the Conference North AFC Fylde, Colwyn Bay, Harrogate Town and Leamington all enjoyed their biggest attendances of the season. As did Whitehawk, Bath City, Biggleswade, Chippenham Town, Frome Town, Paulton Rovers Billericay Town and Wingate & Finchley in the South.

The magic of the FA Cup is still enjoyed throughout the country.

Sadly for Runcorn Town and Flackwell Heath, their superb cup runs came to a halt after four cup successes but their efforts have given their clubs a great start to the season.
