FATrophy Quarter Finals
With the winners of the two games delayed by the weather in Round Three due to play each other in the quarter finals, three ties were played on the Saturday, producing two results and another replay.
Torquay United, with memories of their 0-1 defeat by Ebbsfleet United at Wembley in front of 40,000 in 2008, won a tense battle against FC United of Manchester. However, they will not be facing the same opposition this year, as Ebbsfleet lost another closely fought tie at Conference North club North Ferriby United.
After a goalless first half, the third quarter final did produce plenty of goals. Conference South club Bath City’s 3-1 lead was countered by a goal in the 87th minute and then an equalizer for Dover Athletic in the fourth minute of injury time.
The delayed Third Round ties brought victories for FC Halifax Town over Dartford by 3-2, and for Wrexham who, after two ties and extra time, beat Gateshead 5-3 in a penalty shoot out. They will play at Halifax to see who will meet Torquay United in the two legged Semi-Final on 21st and 28th February.
Dover Athletic have enjoyed a brilliant cup season, but If Bath City can beat them in their replay they will face North Ferriby United. There will then be a Step Two club in the Wembley Final for the second consecutive year.
