RACE FOR TOP SPOT GOING TO THE WIRE

02 April 2014

The race to finish top non-league scorer for the season is extremely close!
Leon Mettam (Worksop Town) and Ben Mackey (Hemel Hempstead Town) have scored 87 goals between them this season with the Northern Premier League representative just three ahead of his Southern League challenger

Cambridge City’s ace striker Adam Marriott has now scored in his last nine games which takes over as this season’s best consecutive scoring run, previously held by Charlie Moone, who scored in eight games for Hampton & Richmond Borough between December 7th and the 21st january

Two possible challengers are Leon Smith (Hendon) and Stefan Brown (Hungerford Town) who have scored in their last five games and Isaac Vassell (Weymouth) with a goal in his last four matches.

Eleven of the eighteen Northern Premier League strikers featuring in the ‘National Strikeforce’s Top Seventy scored on Saturday 29th March. The northern competition certainly produces some superb consistent marksmen.

Since the 3rd November AFC Hornchurch have scored 44 goals, of which all but nine have been scored by players whose names begin with a P !
